JumpBox Runtime
Every JumpBox is based on a common runtime. This is currently a carefully created version of Ubuntu 8.04 that has only the packages necessary for a virtual appliance along with some packages created specifically for the JumpBox itself. The runtime section of this wiki contains the Documentation for the JumpBox Runtime.
Notes
Setup Process
Every JumpBox shares the same web based configuration or setup process. It's simple, find the JumpBoxes IP Adress on its console, visit that IP with your browser, answer a few simple questions and you're done!
Immediately after configuration is complete, the JumpBox desiplays the "Welcome Page". This page tells you a little bit about the JumpBox and tells you what username and password you should use to access the application.
Administration Portal
The JumpBox Administration Portal is the web based utility that allows you to perform certain system management tasks. The "Admin Portal" is accessible on every JumpBox at the URL https://IPADDRESS:3000/ where IP address is the address displayed on the JumpBox virtual console.
Ubuntu Base
All JumpBoxes share a common underlying operating system, Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS. Details about the various components that are common across JumpBoxes can be found here:

Application
When building JumpBoxes, we try to make them as consistent as possible. Understanding the similarities between JumpBoxes will make using them more convenient. The following is a list of the general rules we try to follow:
- Where possible, all of the applications and application data are installed under /var/data/APPNAME.
- Where possible, an application's administrative user is admin and the password is what was set during the JumpBox configuration. Exceptions to this rule is noted in the JumpBox welcome page that gets displayed to the user immediately after setup. This page is available after setup at http://IPADDRESS/jb/welcome.html.
