Set a Static IP Address

JumpBox applications by default use DHCP to get their IP address. For various reasons, you may want to explicitly assign a certain IP address (either for the purpose of having a permanent IP used for direct links or because you wish to expose it under a fully-qualified domain name). There are two methods to assign a static IP address: the first is appropriate if you already have the JumpBox configured and running and have access to the admin portal. The second is to be used in the situation in which you have console access but no option to get it configured using DHCP.

Web Method

1. First the method using the admin portal: Click the "Network" icon in the admin control panel.

2. Click the radio button for manual configuration and enter the appropriate network settings. Click "Configure Networking" to commit your changes. You're done.

Console Method

1. Now the alternate console-based method: When you first boot up the JumpBox you'll notice there's an "Advanced Settings" option at the bottom of the screen. Put focus within the VM by clicking anywhere in the console area with your mouse. Now type the letter "A" (for Advanced).

2. This pulls up a list of choices, the first of which is "Static IP." Choose that one by hitting "Enter."

3. If this is the first time you've booted the JumpBox you can skip this step. If you've already booted it before you'll be presented with an authentication dialogue that asks you to enter your password.

4. Here you enter the static IP address you plan to use along with the other necessary network settings. Click "Ok" and your JumpBox should become available on the IP you specified. You'll still need to complete the initial configuration process.
