What are all these JumpBox AMIs?
JumpBox builds several different types of AMIs and it can be a little confusing which is which. Currently there are two different ways that a user might get billed for running an AMI. It is very important to understand which AMIs cost what, otherwise you can end up with an unexpectedly large EC2 bill.
Users who have a JumpBox Open Subscription plan that includes the Cloud Deployment option should only be paying the JumpBox Open subscription fee and paying the standard EC2 hourly rate (currently $0.085/hr for a small AMI instance). In order to run these you must add your AWS ID to your JumpBox Open account. If you do not, you will not be able to launch these AMIs and will not see them in ElasticFox or the AWS EC2 Console.
| Manifest Path | Price ($/hr) | EBS Root | Open Subscription Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| jumpbox-amis/ | $0.085 | No | Yes |
| 270051122755/jumpbox-amis/ | $0.085 | Yes | Yes |
| jumpbox-cloud-gear/ | $0.20 | No | No |
IMPORTANT: It is crucial to realize that AMI pricing is tied to the AMI itself. So even if you have a JumpBox Open subscription that includes launch access to the lower price AMIs but you launch a higher cost AMI, you will be billed the higher rate.
